Allow me to introduce...

... Simon Moore!
Simon and I are in Manchester Airport waiting to board the first of 3 flights over the next 24 hours, arriving at Dodoma, the legislative capital of Tanzania, at 10.30am (BST-2).

Simon has been a friend for almost 20 years. We first met in St Albans where he was serving in his first curacy and I was in my first ministry in Park Street. Our wives are counsellors so it's a foursome with lots of common ground.

Last year I was thinking and praying about what I should do for my sabbatical. I had given up any idea of visiting Africa again, in spite of my last 2 sabbaticals being spent on that great continent. Well, just at the point of knocking on other doors I got an email from Simon asking whether I would be interested in a couple of weeks teaching in ... Tanzania, the country I have visited on 3 previous occasions and in which I spent my first sabbatical teaching Anglican ordinands. He needed a co-tutor for a 5 year teaching programme for pastors who had hitherto received no training. So, here I am waiting with him for aircraft that will enable us to go and help give some theological and biblical foundations for life long ministry.

We will teach in 2 locations, Dodoma and then Mwanza on the eastern shore of Lake Victoria. There will be about 50 pastors in each location.

Please pray for us as we embark on this 5 year project, for relationships with the pastors and communication of the syllabus, including being translated!
