I never thought I would do this
I am a non-swimmer and dislike going into water, except a baptistry and the occasional bath. Yesterday Jan swam/floated for a kilometre downstream in the river Aare with our friends Dani and Ebi. They all got on my case this afternoon to join them in this daily summer evening relaxation activity. I gave in and loved it! I never thought I would do anything like it. Fortunately no photographic evidence exists.
Coincidently, earlier in the day we had just survived one of the worst storms in living memory in the picturesque city of Lucerne. We sought shelter in the famous tile covered Chapel Bridge, but got soaked as the rain travelled horizontally into it! This is what it looked like earlier before the storm.
The brass band (spot the bagpipes (?!)) had to take cover very quickly.
It's taking time to recover from all the travelling and lack of sleep. Being with old friends in a beautiful country and who don't mind me regularly falling asleep is the perfect antidote.
Nearby Aarburg on the river Aare with its Schloss (now a young offenders prison!) is beautiful.
